4th Philippine Agroforestry Congress in 2009

The University of the Philippine Los Banos-Institute of Agroforestry (UPLB-IAF) and PAFERN are organizing the 4th Philippine Agroforestry Congress. With the theme "Agroforestry Promotion for Climate Change Adaptation: Building Lessons from the Field", this National Agroforestry Congress is slated on November 18-20, 2009, with the Misamis Oriental State College of Agriculture and Technology (MOSCAT) as the host-institution.

The 4th National Agroforestry Congress will be highlighted by the following:

a) plenary and concurrent paper presentations that revolve around the multifunctionality of agroforestry and its role in climate change adaptation; agroforestry towards food security and biodiversity conservation; innovative approaches in agroforestry development and promotion, and; recent research developments in agroforestry and climate change

b) poster presentation highlighting the community-based and people-oriented extension and development projects in agroforestry

c) Agroforestry Roadshow and Farmers' Forum - the first national event that will recognize the agroforestry farmers, through exihibits of agroforestry products; poster exhibits of community-based agroforestry projects; selected presentations from agroforestry farmers focusing on their testimonies about the potential uses of agroforestry in addressing environmental stability and food security
